The Abrahamic Covenant, not the New Covenant, Part 8
As you recall in Part 6 of our study it was suggested that:
“Restitution blessings (the restoring of all things, Acts 3:19-21) will begin with the generation living at the time of the inauguration of the Mediator’s Kingdom.
Who specifically will these consist of?
This would encompass all who survived Armageddon, BEGINNING FIRST with the “holy remnant” of Israel.
As we read:
“At that time Michael shall stand up (assume control), the great prince who stands watch over the sons of your people; and there shall be a time of trouble, Such as never was since there was a nation, Even to that time. And AT THAT TIME (“The Time of Jacob’s Trouble”, Jer 30:7) your people (the “holy remnant”) shall be delivered, everyone who is found written in the book.” (Dan 12:1)
These will be the first to receive a measure of recuperation (recovery from the fall) in order to prepare them for the work ahead, followed shortly thereafter by the other nations (people) who survived Armageddon. (This would likewise include also any of the unfaithful Jews who survived Armageddon who are not considered part of the “holy remnant”).
It shall come to pass even as the Lord God has said, Israel will be the first to be blessed.
“AFTER THOSE DAYS I will make A NEW COVENANT with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah, not according to the covenant I made with them when I took them by the hand to lead them out of Egypt”, but a new covenant, like the former, but more glorious. As the first covenant had a mediator so this new covenant will have a mediator, a better mediator (The Christ, Head and body). As Moses led the people on the right way, so also will the antitype of Abraham, Isaac, and Moses, the greater one than Moses, do. There cometh a greater one than Moses. Now this one will be the one through whom all the promises of God will come to Israel, AND THROUGH ISRAEL to all men.”
“Christ Jesus our Lord, the head, AND the Church His Body, is the great anti-typical Moses, the great Prophet God has been raising up, through which the blessing is to come to Israel, and through Israel to all the nations (Acts 3:22, 23).”
“The Divine blessing is to reach the world of mankind through Israel and under THEIR New Covenant. They have been blinded and turned aside, waiting for the Deliverer— waiting for the great Mediator to come. Shortly He will be completed (the last members of the body of Christ having made their calling and election sure and passing beyond the Vail). His first work will be to pass to the credit of the New Covenant that same “precious blood” which, during this Gospel Age, has blessed and comforted the Church and opened for us the way to joint heirship with the Redeemer through sacrifice.
The blood of Christ represents His sacrificed life and all the earthly rights represented therein. His right to the earthly life, by His obedience to the Law, is still His asset or merit, passed through the Church, which is His Body. (However we do not retain it, but willingly sacrifice it, sacrificing it upon the Lord’s altar that we might be granted the opportunity to be joined to the body of Christ and to obtain a much grander inheritance, a heavenly inheritance.) Thus it now becomes the blood of the New (Law) Covenant, the basis of reconciliation between God and Israel. It seals that Covenant, which, through Israel, shall extend the privilege of eternal life to every nation, people, kindred and tribe.
Thus we see that blessing will first flow to Israel and then through them to the other nations or people who survived Armageddon and eventually to the rest of the world when awaken.
In our next post we should like to know just how the other nations living at the time shall receive the same blessings as those received by the “holy remnant” of Israel.
