Bible Students and Seventh Day Adventist, Part 7
The Beginning, Part 3
We continue now with the comments made by one of our forum members (Robert Dirrick) on our reply on the Seventh Day Adventist beliefs concerning the Son of God. (See Part 1)
Roberts continues:
The only time there is in Scripture that begins, is the time of the beginning of Creation. Before that time was God in Gen 1, which the Scripture expands on in John 1: In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God who made the heaven and the earth…
In reply, this is incorrect.
The first beginning as noted in the Scriptures was the creation of the Logos.
“In a (indefinite article) beginning was the Word (Greek: Logos, Strong’s 3056), and the Word was with the God, and the Word was a god. He was in THE (definite article) beginning with God.” (John 1:1, 2)
“‘These things says the Amen, the Faithful and True Witness, the Beginning of the creation of God.” (Rev 3:14)
“He is the image of the invisible God, the FIRSTBORN over all creation.” (Col 1:15)
Let us recall what was stated in Part 1 of our discussion:
The word FATHER signifies cause or authorship of being, life-giver, one who bestows life and the word SON, correspondingly signifies one who receives life from a father that is one produced, generated, begotten or born of another.
If you were “born” whether first, second or last it implies that you had a “beginning”.
The next beginning was most likely the creation of a heavenly realm or abode for the Angels, followed shortly thereafter by another beginning, the creation of the angelic host themselves (this would include Lucifer).
Following this would come yet another beginning (as is spoken of in Gen 1:1) the beginning of the physical Universe itself (the heavens), with its myriads upon myriads of galaxies, stars and planets and of course (the earth) the future home of the first terrestrial form of life (mankind).
All of this creative work was accomplished by the Logos as God’s representative. As it is written: “All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made.” (John 1:3)
“…For in him were all things created, in the heavens and upon the earth, things visible (the physical universe, stars, planets and etc., terrestrial life, a.k.a. mankind) and things invisible (the spiritual or heavenly realm, celestial beings, Angels and etc.) whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers; all things have been created through him, and unto him; and he is before all things (all created things, the first, the Alpha), and in him all things consist.” (Col 1:15-17)
All the power which our Lord exercised in the work of “creating all things” as well as all the various miracles he performed while in the flesh came by way OF the Father (of His power or spirit) working BY or through him.
Again, our Lord stated: he could do nothing of himself–“The Father that dwells in me (His power or spirit), He doeth the works.” (John 5:19 and 14:10)
And yet we still have another new beginning, the beginning of the “New Creation” the first one of such being our Lord Jesus Christ.
“And He is the head of the body, the church, who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, that in all things He may have the preeminence.”, “…the firstborn among many brethren.” (Col 1:18; Rom 8:29)
And still yet another beginning has taken place. You see although the New Creation are spirit beings and could easily dwell among the rest of the heavenly host, this is nevertheless not their true home or abode. The scriptures inform us that angels (although celestial beings, spirit beings), are only one step above that of a perfect terrestrial or earthly being. Their home or abode is probably glorious beyond reason, as will be mankind’s home when restored to the paradise in which it was originally intended, however neither of these could possibly compare with the divine plane of existence and the dwelling place of immortal beings.
As the Lord (the Logos) prepared the heavenly realm or abode for the Angels prior to their arrival so too once again he prepares a place for his brethren on the divine plane.
“In My Father’s house are many mansions (conditions or levels of being); if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also.” (John 14:2, 3)
Two things are gleamed from these statements, one is that this new heavenly abode or dwelling place did not previous exist, that it is something newly created. The second thought is that wherever this new dwelling place is it is not the same place or abode of the Almighty Himself, else why should the Lord have to prepare a place that should already exist? This of course in no way implies that the Church glorified cannot enter into the present of the Almighty Father when appropriate. They are all his closes’ sons, all of them are direct creations a new creation, begotten of God (his spirit) Himself, and as such will always have access to the Father and see him as he truly is. This is something unique to those on the divine plane of being, they and they alone are the only ones who can truly grasps (see) the Father (as well as each other) as He truly is. Although the rest of the angelic host see the face of the Father all the time, they could never truly see him, that is fully comprehend him as he is, as could another divine being. It would be like how you and I as humans see each other, and how your pet see’s you, it’s not the same.
We will continue with Roberts comments in our next post.
